Spatter is counted past the drop-cloth boundary, because that is the paint that lands where you did not intend it to. A cover that rolls fast but throws paint onto the trim is not a clean winner.

Repeatability
We run three separate covers per model, all from retail, and report the mean across them. The order of covers in a session is randomized so no model always runs first on a fresh roller or last on a loaded one.

Limitations

Lint and spatter counts are taken on our panels, not your living room, so treat them as relative comparisons between covers rather than exact predictions for your job. We also do not yet have months of repeated-wash data, so a cover that reuses well once may still wear differently over many jobs.
